Starlink Fly Through……. Photobombed

By Gary George

I spent the afternoon yesterday (4-18-20) rearranging the balcony for the “I don’t know time”, and planned to shoot some Star Trails in the evening. I went back through my last couple that I have done, and noticed the time frame for each has increased, so I say to myself “why not , let’s do an hour”. I set up my phone on the tripod and got it ready and clicked the button, and went in. An hour later I came out and actually it turns out to be a 62 minute shot, I sat in my recliner and looked and noticed “something” in the bottom right corner. Not too much worried about it, it is what it is and Ill check it in the morning. This morning I looked at it and went to the satellite database and logged in with dates and times and sure enough, the time I was shooting there was a flock of Starlink satellites flying right over me. A great big “THANK YOU” goes out to Elon for starting to mess up our night sky shots !!!

I did send it to NASA, who, is recording all shots and fly by’s and Spaceweather.com ( Bob sent the link up ) so there you go,,,,, stay safe, healthy, and hope to see everyone soon !!!! ENJOY cause I did !

  1. Wow! Great work Gary! Well done and you are part of a growing group of astronomers concern about how SpaceX is hurting our ability to view and study the night sky. Folks in Europe are not to happy! Bob
